A bread-focused shop billing itself as an authentic Japanese bakery experience. As the name suggests, the star is the pullman loaf — the pillowy Japanese-style shokupan you miss from home. On the southwest side (along Blue Diamond) and open early. Start here if you're hunting for shokupan.

日本とフィリピンをかけ合わせたベーカリー。看板は「shokupandesal」＝日本の食パン（shokupan）の口当たりに、フィリピンのほんのり甘いパン（pandesal）を掛けた独自の一品。菓子パン感覚で楽しめて、日本のパンが恋しい人にも刺さります。チャイナタウン近くのS Jones沿い。
A Japanese-Filipino bakery. The signature is the shokupandesal — the pillowy texture of Japanese milk bread crossed with the gently sweet Filipino pandesal. Fun as a sweet roll and comforting if you miss Japanese bread. On S Jones near Chinatown.

2012年開業、家族経営の日本式パティスリー。日本にインスパイアされたケーキ・焼き菓子を毎日手作りで出す、地元の定番です。ショートケーキやロールケーキなど「日本の洋菓子店の味」に近く、誕生日ケーキの相談先としても人気。カフェを併設していて、朝7時からクレープやホットサンドも出します。
A family-run Japanese-style patisserie since 2012, making Japan-inspired cakes and baked goods fresh daily — a local staple. Its shortcakes and roll cakes taste close to a Japanese Western-sweets shop, and it's a popular choice for birthday cakes. There's a café on site, open from 7am for crepes and hot sandos.

A shop built around Japanese-style soufflé cheesecake — the light, jiggly kind. It also takes custom cake orders. On the southeast side (S Maryland Pkwy); the pick when you miss restrained, Japanese-style sweetness.

1軒1 spot日本の店そのものではないけれど、菓子パン気分を幅広く満たせる大型店。
Not a Japanese shop per se, but a big bakery that covers the sweet-bun craving.

台湾発の巨大ベーカリーチェーンのチャイナタウン店。ヨーロッパ・アジア・デニッシュ系まで60種類以上のパンを毎時焼き上げる物量が魅力。日本の菓子パンそのものではありませんが、ミルクブレッドや塩パン、タロなど「日本のパン屋気分」を満たせる品揃え。Shanghai Plazaの核テナントで、ラーメンや買い物のついでに寄れます。
The Chinatown branch of the Taiwan-born mega-bakery chain, famous for baking 60+ varieties hourly across European, Asian, and Danish styles. Not Japanese sweet bread exactly, but its milk bread, salt rolls, and taro buns scratch the Japanese-bakery itch. An anchor of Shanghai Plaza — easy to fold into a ramen or grocery run.

選び方のコツTips
「shokupan」「milk bread」で探す。メニューやレビューでこの言葉が出る店は、日本式のふわふわ食パンを置いている確率が高い。逆にサワードウやバゲット中心の店は方向性が違います。
Search for "shokupan" or "milk bread." Shops whose menus or reviews mention these are likely to have the fluffy Japanese loaf. Sourdough- or baguette-focused bakeries are a different direction.
